The nutrition team organized a healthy cooking workshop in a secondary school on October 21. Three simple and nutritious breakfast recipes were introduced to the students and parents. A survey conducted by our Centre in 2021/22 showed that 42.8% of the secondary students said they did not have breakfast daily. Other studies also found that insufficient time and lack of appetite were the main reasons for skipping breakfast. Hence, to empower the students to develop the habit of eating a healthy breakfast, our team, together with the students and parents, made healthy breakfasts in the workshop. Our team also explained the “3 Low 2 High” healthy eating principle and its benefits to the students and parents. Tips on making healthier choices of pre-packaged breakfast cereals were also introduced.
