Why should teenagers be reminded about safety?

Injuries happened usually because of hazardous environmental exposures and improper use of facilities. Instilling safety knowledge into young people through education can help enhance their safety awareness and tendency to take appropriate precautions to prevent injuries. Let teenagers realise that accidents can happen in various situations and places, including at home, school, sports grounds or on the road. By examining the environment and explaining the reasons for setting up safety rules in these typical environments and places, students will understand the importance of complying with these rules.

Main Concepts

  1. Let teenagers realise the prevalence of injury accidents. Accidents may occur in different environments in life, including home, school, sports grounds, and on the roads, etc.
  2. Let teenagers understand the causes of typical accidents in the home environment and learn how to improve the environment and avoid home accidents.
  3. Teachers may review the school’s safety rules with students and explain the reasons for establishing the rules and the importance of complying with them to reinforce the importance of maintaining a safe school environment.
  4. Remind young people of the importance of road safety. Young people must stay alert and follow safety regulations as road users.
  5. Let young people examine the community environment and public facilities by conducting surveys from the perspective of safety and health, explore the relationship between city planning and public health, and try to suggest improvement plans to avoid injuries if they have identified risks that may lead to accidents.
  6. Discuss with teenagers the possible causes and effects of injury incidents reported in the news or accidents they have heard about. According to the characteristics of the injured persons (such as children, older people, etc.) and their situations, explore the causes of the injury incidents and discuss their prevention. Students may also conduct learning projects on accidents and injuries in the home or community environment, investigating the problems and discussing risk management.
