Teachers' Training

Our Centre conducted staff training at the Caritas Hong Kong Pre-school Education and Child Care Service Joint School Staff Development Day on November 29, 2024. A total of 111 principals, panel teachers, and teachers attended the training. Professor Albert Lee, the Emeritus Professor of JC School of Public Health and Primary Care, CUHK shared on child protection in simple terms, addressing critical moments and the risks of serious harm that children may face from the perspectives of medical care, ethics, and basic legal concepts. He posed important questions, such as how one can reasonably believe that serious harm is not negligence and how one can justify not reporting immediately in a particular situation as being in the best interests of the child. At the event, Dr Amelia Lo, Health Promotion Officer of the Centre shared insights on why it is essential to establish a HPS in preschools and its importance and mission, provided an overview of the development of HPS in Hong Kong, and elaborated the Global Standards for HPS. Her presentation offered teachers a deeper understanding of the concept and implementation of HPS.
